Journavx — Your Nonopioid Pain Medicine
What it is, when it arrives, and what to tell us before your operation.
Now that your surgery is scheduled, Dr. Pettit is using a nonopioid medication to control your pain afterward. If you are prescribed Journavx, it takes the place of oxycodone in your recovery plan.

They will call you to confirm your free delivery. - When to start
- Loading dose 100 mg the evening of surgery.
Then one 50 mg tablet every 12 hours.
Do not take this medication before surgery. - Savings card
- The pharmacy has a savings card on file to assist with payment.
Call the office before surgery if
You have liver disease, you take hormonal birth control, or you take any medication listed below. These affect how Journavx works, and we may need to adjust your plan.
Strong CYP3A inhibitors
clarithromycin, telithromycin, ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, saquinavir, atazanavir, darunavir, indinavir, nefazodone
Moderate CYP3A inhibitors — includes the calcium channel blockers diltiazem and verapamil
diltiazem, verapamil, amiodarone, erythromycin, fluconazole, miconazole, amprenavir, fosamprenavir, conivaptan, delavirdine, cimetidine
While you are taking Journavx
No grapefruit. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice for the entire time you are on this medication. Keep taking your other post-op medicines exactly as listed on your medication tracker.
